Children's Choirs and Orchestras Program

Commitment to UNESCO

Fulfilling the commitments presented to UNESCO in the call to receive the appointment of Creative City of Music, in January 2022 the Children's Choirs and Orchestras Program begins in vulnerable areas.

 

The program seeks to address complaints of domestic violence, suicide attempts, harassment and sexual abuse reported to the municipal police.

 

The Children's Choirs and Orchestras Program aims to bring peace to citizens through the culture of music. To carry it out, a donation of 45 instruments was obtained from the Asociación Concertando México, thus starting the choir, music theory and orchestra classes.

Community Development   Centers

Community Development Centers are spaces that offer a network of services to the community, calling for citizen participation and representing an opportunity to improve the well-being of the inhabitants of neighborhoods, neighborhoods, and priority attention areas.

 

Currently, the program is implemented in five Community Development Centers, strategically chosen to deal with complaints. These are:

• Southern Hills.

• Gertrudis Sanchez.

• Garden City.

• Villas del Pedregal.

• The village.

Promoting peace through music

The implementation of the program has generated therapeutic, communication and healthy recreation tools as part of the culture of peace strategy through music, for the 150 children and adolescents between 5 and 18 years of age that make up this project. , receiving a total of six hours of choir classes and two hours of violin classes per week, both free of charge.

The first Mexican music concert is planned for the month of September, uniting the choirs of all Community Development Centers, offering a sample of all the work that has been done in the program.

In the same way, collaboration has been sought with festivals and cultural activities for the promotion of the culture of peace, such as the "Educational Theater Sessions for the Prevention of Child Trafficking" given by the Ministry of Culture, attendance at an open rehearsal of the Michoacán Symphony Orchestra and a concert at the Colinas del Sur Community Development Center as part of the International Summer Opera Festival of Morelia.
